How to Treat Cold Sores Naturally
Wondering how to treat cold sores naturally without using any worthless creams or over the counter medicines? Being a cold sore sufferer myself, I can tell you that I have tried many kinds of methods to try and stop them ruining my face, here are some that actually work.
First of all lets talk about the strong over the counter treatments, do they work? Their is no mistaking that some strong cold sore creams have been proven to work, not cure them, but take away a lot of discomfort. Personally, I think my body has become immune to such remedies, after a couple of months of applying such creams, their effectiveness seems to fade away.
Here are a couple of natural methods I have used in the past.
1. The overwhelming power of Tea Tree Oil can not be ignored. Not only does it sooth the pain of cold sores, it also dries out the blisters and helps speed up the recovery process. The smell is a little bit overpowering for some people, but it is worth it.
2. Ice is my favourite soother, applied to the skin about every ten minutes. This can be quite a difficult one to do, but it is worth it. Not only does ice help cool down the pain, it also stops the infection from spreading further around your mouth.
3. Petroleum Jelly if applied to your blisters can help prevent cracking which could then lead to blistering. This is great for when you cannot use method number 2, ice, for example when your out food shopping.
These are just a couple of tips on how to treat cold sores naturally, I hope they help you in taking away some of the discomfort you may suffer.
