The Cause of High Bad Cholesterol
The cause of high bad cholesterol is largely a combination of various causes. Because of the public uproar on high cholesterol it is quite easy to mistaken cholesterol for a substance that is harmful to the body. Against popular belief cholesterol is in fact useful when it comes to regulating hormonal levels in the blood, and facilitating various body functions. However, if the cholesterol is in large amounts it can bring about various complications, one of which is heart disease.
The primary cause of your high cholesterol levels is your eating habits. Saturated fatty acids are largely to blame for cholesterol build up. Beef, dairy products, fresh milk, egg yolk and pork are direct triggers because of the way they increase already high levels of cholesterol. The cholesterol your body makes is sufficient for the normal functioning of your body and any extra cholesterol can only be dangerous to your body. So you must avoid taking such foods excessively.
Being overweight has a direct impact on cholesterol levels in the body. When you are obese the amount of LDLs increases automatically. LDLs are known to be bad cholesterol and they are always higher in overweight people. The problem with being overweight is that this increases fat reserves as there is nowhere else to discard such fats.
So naturally if your body is receiving a higher quantity of cholesterol than it can use, it is eventually forced to store such cholesterol. At the end of the day there will be no room left for good cholesterol, that which is responsible for reducing bad cholesterol levels.
Lack of physical exercise has been attributed as one of the major causes of high cholesterol. Exercising regularly is beneficial in the sense that the body generates the heat that is needed to burn excess fat that may have accumulated in the body. As you get used to a fixed exercise program, all the saturated fatty acids are eliminated, leaving only the beneficial cholesterol.
In very rare instances cholesterol can be high due to genetic wiring. Genes are those cells that are responsible for giving you particular functional characteristics. Therefore you can be born with good cholesterol that unfortunately acts at a slow pace. The obvious consequence of this is that excessive amounts of cholesterol will take much longer to eliminate. In such a scenario cholesterol build up will still continue even if you eat the right foods and exercise regularly.
