Quick Remedies For Cold Sores That Work!
Do you have problems with the persistent herpes simplex virus infection? The infection is said to be highly persistent but fortunately, there are a lot of quick remedies for cold sores. These remedies provide relief from discomfort like pain and itch, and these also reduce the duration of an outbreak that normally lasts seven days to two weeks.
At home, you can use the following simple methods:
1. Cold Compress
You can use ice cubes, ice bags, or tea bags. Just put any of those on your sores for about ten minutes. Doing this will prevent too much swelling and redness. Tea bags have a particular property (tannic acid) which can cure the sores.
2. Apply Herb Extract
A few drops of sage or peppermint extract can help in treating these sores. Aloe Vera is also helpful – just rub the fleshy pulp of the Aloe Vera on the sores.
Taking drugs and medication is also a quick remedy for cold sores. The following are some drugs which are good for your sores:
1. Acyclovir – this and other Acyclovir based drugs (like Zovirax, Valtrex, Famvir and Denavir) are approved by the Food and Drug Administration which can decrease the symptoms, and stimulate faster healing.
2. Lysine Supplements – lysine is an amino acid that counteracts the activities of herpes virus. A dose of 2000 to 3000 mg is recommended for those who have frequent sore outbreaks.
3. Creams – are excellent in blocking the sore outbreak and making the sores heal faster. You can use either Abreva or Quantum Super Lysine.
Quick remedies for cold sores are really not a problem. As you can see from above, there are many ways that you can choose from. What’s hard with this condition is the fact that the virus remains untreated with any of those medications. That is why you have to be careful not to trigger a sore outbreak.
