15 Quick Stress Relief Ideas for Busy Working Women

Most of us women spend a lot of time and energy taking care of others that we often forget to take care of ourselves. That’s why stress management is important. If we can’t take care of ourselves, then there’s nothing else that we can give to our family, to our work, to our friends.
But here’s the thing – while we know the importance of relaxation and in fact, dying, to have the rare opportunity to just chill, we just can’t seem to find the time to do it. It’s as if, if we relax then we’ll be sacrificing a big chunk of our productive hours and end up with incomplete projects or unwashed dishes.
This need not be case. I have listed below 15 ideas to relieve stress. They’re easy, cheap and can be done in just a few minutes.
1. Get off your desk and exercise. Go to the gym. Do yoga. Jog. Play tennis.
2. Whenever you need to unwind, listen to some soothing music.
3. Next time you walk by the library or a bookstore, pick up a good book; it could be a thriller or a trashy romance, anything you like, really. After everyone goes to bed, you can relax by reading a few pages every night.
4. Get some loose tea leaves, steep it in a teapot, pour it in a cup, sit down, take a sip and savor that fresh, wonderful blend.
5. A hot bubble bath with some candles at the side of the tub while reading your novel is always relaxing.

6. Go to the spa. A professional massage is a great way to take care of yourself, especially when you’re going through a difficult time.
7. Give yourself a manicure or a pedicure, either at home or in a salon.
8. The stress problem might be aggravated by a messy house, so cleaning it up a bit will decrease your stress levels. Stop coddling your kids and husband and ask them to help you out.
9. Let yourself have a good cry from time to time if you think you’re too stressed or depressed. It helps you clear your head and solve your problems.
10. Hang out with your girl friends. Have coffee. Talk things out.
11. If you don’t draw, paint, sing, play an instrument, or dance already, you should. Being creative is always fun. Take a class in your community center or get a book on something new you’d like to try.
12. Writing in your journal helps you remember the good in your life when the going gets tough and it can make you feel better.
13. Meditate, by taking a few minutes to clear your mind and focus on gentle breathing. It helps relax your body and mind.
14. Change your diet, as there are foods that induce calmness (fruits, vegetable, milk, for example), and foods that increase stress, such as sugar or caffeine.
15. Just say “no”. You don’t need to do every activity, every commitment. Look at your daily schedule and drop one task. Trust me, you’ll feel better by just deleting that one must-do task.
