Stress, Relief, and Rock and Roll
I am only 23 years of age but I have had a great deal of stress. Stress can come from school, work, and life in general which includes relationships, life challenges, and difficulties. There are many ways to relieve stress besides of just going to the doctor and getting prescription medication for it.
Exercise is a great form of a stress relief. It can also help release of endorphins into your blood stream. These give you a feeling of happiness and positively affect your overall sense of well-being. It regulates your blood flow to your brain by bringing additional sugars and oxygen that may be needed when you are thinking intensely. Exercising also relaxes tense muscles and helps you sleep well.
Keeping a journal also is a great stress reliever. Personally I like doing this because you can write down everything you feel. Everything you write may not be right but at least you can get your point across somehow. It helps me clarify my thoughts and feelings and then I end up gaining self-knowledge. Writing everything on paper can help problem solve as well. Journaling strengthens the immune system which prevents a host of illnesses.
Another form of stress management is laughter. I often like going out with a group of people to just lay back and have a good time. Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones and increases the level of health- enhancing hormones like endorphins. When I laugh sometimes it is like an emotional release. Instead of complaining about life’s frustrations try to laugh about them. Laughter brings the focus away from stress and negative emotions that you might have.
Stress is simply a fact of nature. Stress is related to both external and internal factors. There are several ways to relieve it, but you have to find out what works best for you. Personally I enjoy writing and laughter. While others might enjoy other activities. Don’t let stress control you, you control the stress!
